Thank the Cat Editing
Nestled in a small cottage in Devon, Thank the Cat Editing grew out of quiet afternoons spent reading by the fireside, often with a cat purring nearby. My love of books developed into a way of life.
Here, editing is as much about care as it is about clarity. Every manuscript that arrives is welcomed as a treasured guest and given my closest attention. My work is guided by the belief that every author deserves to feel listened to and involved in the editing process.
I can help your words find their best form — one careful, cosy edit at a time.
TESTIMONIALS
‘I cannot recommend Sarah highly enough. She has been indispensable to me personally, supporting both my fiction and academic texts with a level of care, insight and precision that genuinely elevates every manuscript she touches. Her approach combines meticulous copy-editing with a deep respect for the author’s voice. She has helped me sharpen structure, clarify argument and polish prose in ways that strengthen the work without ever diluting its character.
‘Beyond my own writing, Sarah has been a fabulous copy-editor for a wide range of Hermitage Press fiction releases. Her edits are thorough, thoughtful, and delivered on time, with both professionalism and warmth. Two of the titles she copy-edited went on to secure first prizes in regional book awards, which speaks volumes about the quality and consistency she brings to every project.
‘Working with Sarah means more than accuracy and consistency. It means collaborating with an editor who listens, cares and genuinely invests in the success of the work. Whether for an individual author or a small press, she is exactly the kind of editor and proofreader whose name belongs proudly in the acknowledgements.
‘I cannot wait to work with her again.’

‘Sarah is the Bees Knees as an editor. A publisher told me Bordeaux, Private Eye was unreadable nonsense, but Sarah believed in me, knocked it into shape and four years later it still sells regularly out of Bradley's bookshop in Bordeaux and is in libraries all over the UK.’
